I worked for 15 years as a massage therapist. It was good to offer pain relief and ongoing maintenance for clients, but it bored and frustrated me to work at this level.
I wanted insight as to why we get into pain and discomfort and clear solutions as to how to get out of it. I wanted to offer answers and solutions to issues of pain. And I wanted answers for myself as to why I had neck shoulder elbow and wrist pain. I knew it had to be what I was doing or how i was "using myself".
Contact with the Alexander Technique 25 years ago had left me with the intuition that answers were to be found in this process and the dream to one day train to be a teacher never left me.
Training to become a teacher The Alexander Technique far surpassed my expectations.
It gave me understanding and insight into both why we get into pain and how to get out of it. It gave me tools to help clients learn LEARN THEIR WAY OUT OF PAIN.
Through the training I personally discovered far more than freedom from pain- I learnt efficiency and fluidity of movement, to become more mindful and constructive in thought. Everything I did became easier, and I feel ( generally ) more agile and coordinated now at 58 than I have done previously. I want to share that with everyone !!
I now have clarity in my work - I offer clients insight into what they are doing that contributes to pain patterns and help them discover new and easier pathways of coordination. Working with clients is now exciting and rewarding.
