This is a real game changer for coordination.
Newton's third law:
If an object A exerts a force on object B, then object B must exert a force of equal magnitude and opposite direction back on object A.
ie: Downward force of gravity on you exerted by the earth meets an Upward force on you exerted by the ground / the floor / the chair
We can open our minds to this piece of physics and really KNOW and USE this upward support.
- USE the support. BE supported rather than hold onto yourself.
- Imagine the opposite. Imagine Taking the chair away from under you. You would fall 'down and back'. Instead tangibly know the chair IS there under you exerting a 'forward and up' force.
- While your head is on your pillow explore how much you can let your head be supported. Can you also know the upward support of the bed under your whole body? How much less can you do ? Can you notice where you are holding yourself ?
- While standing how much can you know the support coming up under your feet? Can you notice less effort in your neuro muscular system as you build this awareness? Can you think of being organised forward and up over the floor / ground ?
- As you carry something can you think of the support coming up under your feet to support the weight?
-And can you use the idea of ' support comes up ' under your hands - on the bench, the steering wheel. the walking stick, the keyboard or on your lap as you sit.
Stay curious ....
And keep the goal of optimal coordination in sight.
